Exporters are advised that in order to be eligible for certification to Korea they must contact their local Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) Office in advance of export to determine the requirements. If you require any other information on export certification, please contact your local CFIA Office.
Please note that the Republic of Korea has notified that imports of aquatic animal genetically modified organism's (GMO's) and their products are not permitted at this time. As a result, aquatic animal GMO's (including live salmonids, their gametes or germplasm) or their products are not eligible for export to Korea.
The exporter is responsible for confirming the intended end use of the consignment with their importer in Korea and providing this information to the CFIA at the time of the request for certification. The exporter remains responsible for the accuracy of this information.
The following certificates are available
- Aquatic Animal Health Certificate for the Export of Live Finfish, their Gametes or Fertilized Eggs for Aquaculture from Canada to the Republic of Korea (AQAH-1064)
- Korea has indicated that at this time, consignments of live eel fry (elvers) for aquaculture purposes in Korea and live zebrafish (Danio rerio) for test and research purposes in a reported or permitted research center in Korea do not need to be accompanied by a health certificate. All other consignments of live finfish require an AQAH-1064. It remains the responsibility of the exporter to verify prior to exporting any consignment to ensure they meet all the requirements of the importing country.
- Note: As of May 1, 2021, the following species of live finfish considered susceptible to infection with tilapia lake virus (TiLV) by Korea are not eligible for export to Korea:
- Genus Oreochromis
- Oreochromis niloticus × Orechromis mossambicus
- Oreochromis niloticus × Orechromis aureus
- Sarotherodon galilaeus
- Coptodon zillii (=Tilapia zillii)
- Tristramella simonis (Tristramellasimonis intermediate)
- Osphronemus goramy
- Aquatic Animal Health and Sanitary Certificate for the Export of Molluscs For Human Consumption and Non-Human Consumption from Canada to The Republic Of Korea (AQAH-1072)
- The AQAH-1072 is a Joint Certificate containing both Food Safety/Public Health and Aquatic Animal Health attestations
The AQAH-1072 must be validated, dated and issued by the CFIA Veterinary Inspector while the product is still in Canada and available for inspection. - Aquatic Animal Health and Sanitary Certificate for the Export of Live Finfish For Human Consumption from Canada to The Republic Of Korea (AQAH-1088)

The AQAH-1088 must be validated, dated and issued by the CFIA Veterinary Inspector while the product is still in Canada and available for inspection. The AQAH-1089 must be validated, dated and issued by the CFIA Veterinary Inspector while the product is still in Canada and available for inspection. - Korea has indicated that at this time, consignments of cooked or heated crustaceans and peeled and head removed chilled/frozen shrimp do not need to be accompanied by AQAH-1089. All other consignments of crustaceans or their products require an AQAH-1089. It remains the responsibility of the exporter to verify prior to exporting any consignment to ensure they meet all the requirements of the importing country.

- Veterinary Health Certificate for export of live amphibians for commercial use from Canada to the Republic of Korea (AQAH-1109)
