Aquatic animal export: certification requirements for China (People's Republic of)

The following certificates are available:

  • Aquatic Animal Health Certificate for the Export of Wild Caught Eels (Anguilla species) for Aquaculture Purposes from Canada to the People's Republic of China (AQAH-1017)
  • Veterinary Health Certificate for the Export of Crustacean Chitin to China (AQAH-1005)
  • Aquatic Animal Health Certificate for the Export of Finfish Eyed Eggs for Aquaculture Purposes from Canada to the People's Republic of China (AQAH-1042)
  • Aquatic Animal Health Certificate for the Export of Live Aquatic Animals intended for Ornamental Display Purposes from Canada to the People's Republic of China (AQAH-1026)
  • Aquatic Animal Health Certificate for the Export of Live Molluscs and their Gametes or Germplasm for Aquaculture or Research Purposes from Canada to the People's Republic of China (AQAH-1003)

Important Notes:

  • All exporters of live aquatic animals, including their fertilized eggs (germplasm) or gametes, for purposes of aquaculture, breeding, research or ornamental display must be on the List of Canadian exporters approved to export live aquatic animals for culture, research and ornamental display to the People's Republic of China (MS Word) as maintained on the website of China's General Administration of China Customs (GACC). Exporters are advised to contact their local CFIA Animal Health Office to inquire about the process and request registration.
  • The commodity for AQAH-1017 requires sampling and testing.
  • The commodity for AQAH-1042 may require sampling and testing.
  • The commodity for AQAH-1003 may require sampling and testing.
  • Please note that the People's Republic of China has notified that imports of aquatic animal genetically modified organism's (GMO's) and their products are not permitted at this time. As a result, aquatic animal GMO's (including live salmonids, their gametes or germplasm) or their products are not eligible for export to China.
  • There may be existing certificates or additional information from the Fish and Seafood program. However, for the specific commodities above, an aquatic animal health certificate is required.
