CFIA cancels the Safe Food for Canadians licence of Unistraw Holdings Pte, Ltd

July 14, 2021, Ottawa

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has cancelled the Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence #4RWD998W of Unistraw Holdings Pte, Ltd., pertaining to importing food, effective June 21, 2021. Unistraw Holdings Pte, Ltd.'s fixed place of business is located in Singapore.

With this cancellation, the licence holder may not conduct any activity for which SFC licence #4RWD998W was issued.

Prior to this cancellation, the CFIA suspended the licence of Unistraw Holdings Pte, Ltd. because the licence holder failed to comply with section 12 of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) regarding the fixed place of business of a non-resident importer.

Unistraw Holdings Pte, Ltd. was notified on May 28, 2021 of the grounds being considered for licence cancellation and provided with an opportunity to be heard regarding the cancellation. The licence holder did not respond to the invitation to be heard. Based on the available information, the Agency determined that the licence holder failed to take the requisite corrective actions required within the applicable time period and cancelled the licence.

There is no food recall associated with this cancellation.

Licence holders are responsible for ensuring they comply with Canada's food laws. The CFIA is committed to enforcing those laws.
