Management agrees with the recommendation. While CFIA has discussed many of the FSMI initiatives at various meetings (national associations, international partners etc.), a continued and systematic effort to enhance communication will support the agency's current focus on implementation of modernization initiatives and build/maintain support and understanding by internal and external stakeholders. |
Leverage and reinvigorate existing cross-branch coordination and information-sharing on communication and engagement to include FSMI and other modernization projects. |

Management agrees with the recommendations. | Performance indicators will be identified, implemented and measured for each of the projects under the Food Safety Modernization Initiative (FSMI). These indicators will help to measure the impact of FSMI investments on the CFIA's Food Safety Program, and will link to outcomes identified in the broader Food Program Performance Measurement Strategic Framework (under development) in the longer term. In the short term, performance indicators for FSMI projects outputs will be confirmed and measured in time to support the renewal of FSMI funds in 2018-19. This action plan aligns with the following:
|
A FSMI performance strategy, approved by the AVP PPB. The strategy will include a list of performance indicators for FSMI outputs, and a framework for FSMI performance measurement. The framework says who collects and analyses the data, how often it is collected, and how it is reported. |
