The purpose of this consultation was to seek feedback on the amendments to maximum compensation amounts for bison as contained in the Schedule to the Compensation for Destroyed Animals Regulations – Pre-Canada Gazette, Part I public consultation.

The CFIA engaged with all animal health stakeholders, including:

  • Producer association groups
  • Other government agencies

All comments were welcomed from industry, governments, the public, or other organizations or individuals with an interest in animal health in Canada.

Key questions for discussion

The CFIA sought feedback on the proposed changes to the maximum compensation amounts for destroyed bison, which includes:

  • Gathering feedback on and confirming whether there was support from industry on the proposed changes
  • Validating potential economic impacts of the proposed regulatory changes
