Indigenous students working at the CFIA are encouraged to join the Indigenous Summer Student Program (ISSP) to gain valuable work experience and develop important skills!

About the program

The ISSP is an internal professional and cultural program that supports you in your part-time or full-time position. This is not a recruitment program. See below for how to apply to the CFIA.

Opportunities and benefits

As a participant in the program, opportunities and benefits can include:

  • mentorship with Indigenous employees
  • cultural events, sharing circles, skill workshops, and networking opportunities with other Indigenous students
  • support from the Indigenous employee network at the CFIA
  • development of new skills and experiences
  • sharing and exploring Indigenous cultures and backgrounds from across the country
  • opportunities to discover new things about yourself and expand your professional networks
