Notice to industry: Changes to import requirements for raw inedible animal by-products from the European Union

An animal health import permit is now required to import raw inedible animal by-products from the European Union for uses other than pharmaceutical manufacturing. Shipments leaving the European Union on or after September 15, 2020 must be accompanied by an import permit in order to enter Canada. Please refer to applying to import live animals, semen, embryos, animal products and by-products for more information on how to apply for an import permit. Import conditions for raw inedible animal by-products may be found in the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS).
