A neutralization antibody titration test for rabies antibody performed at a laboratory designated by BAPHIQ is mandatory. The only North American laboratories available in their list (Attachment C) are the Rabies Laboratory of the Kansas State University and the Department of Defense Laboratory, Ft Sam Houston, Texas.

Once the importer has received his or her import permit, the Veterinary Health Certificate (BAPHIQ Form 002) must be completed by a veterinarian licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Canada before being presented to a CFIA official veterinarian to be endorsed. A fee is applicable for this service. Please note that there is no prescribed time between the clinical examination and travelling however it should not exceed 30 days.
