Import requirements for birds entering Alaska from Canada

As of May 1, 2018 the USDA-APHIS requires USDA import permits for shipments of birds entering the United States via a land border port between Canada and Alaska.

There are no designated land border ports on the Canadian-United States border to Alaska, thus an import permit is required prior to entry into Alaska to facilitate the inspections.

Submit the USDA import permit application (VS 17-129) by email (VS.Live.Animals.Import.Permits@aphis.usda.gov) or follow the USDA's procedures to submit an application.
