March 28, 2014: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has cancelled the produce licence of Vitale Produce Ltd., effective March 26, 2014. Vitale Produce Ltd. is an importer of fresh fruit and vegetables located in Windsor, ON.
The company's licence was cancelled as a result of non-compliance with the Licensing and Arbitration Regulations. Specifically, the cancellation follows a review of recent industry complaints related to failure to address outstanding debts. The CFIA has been advised that Vitale Produce Ltd. has ceased operations as a produce company.
There are no food safety concerns associated with this licence cancellation.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its web site.
