Effective July 15, 2014, the licence of Marché Junaid was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.
December 3, 2013 (Ottawa): The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) revoked the import licence of Marché Junaid, effective November 21, 2013. Marché Junaid is an importer of root crops for consumption located in Montréal, Quebec.
The company's import licence was revoked because, on a number of occasions, the company failed to present the imported products for inspection. This violates paragraphs 40 (3) and 40 (4) of the Plant Protection Regulations.
There are no food safety issues with the distributed product, and no product is being recalled.
Marché Junaid's import licence will not be reinstated until the company has fully demonstrated the capacity to implement the necessary corrective actions as approved by the CFIA.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations.
