Effective September 15, 2018, the licence of Establishment 587, KML Meat Processors Ltd., was renewed. The company will continue to operate under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.

Effective March 31, 2018, the suspended licence of Establishment 587, KML Meat Processors Ltd., expired. A new licence with conditions was issued on April 1, 2018.

November 9, 2017, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the operating licence of Establishment 587, KML Meat Processors Ltd., a registered meat slaughter and processing facility located in Westwold, BC, effective November 3, 2017.

The operating licence was suspended due to the company's inability to design, implement and maintain an acceptable written prerequisite programs and a hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) system, as required by the Meat Inspection Act and Regulations, 1990.

There are no known food safety issues associated with this suspension and no product is being recalled.

The operator will not be able to resume production activities until the CFIA determines that the required corrective measures have been taken.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its website.
