Effective October 21, 2014, the licence of Establishment 579, Canafric Inc. was reinstated and the company is allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.
October 6, 2014: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the licence to operate of Establishment 579, Canafric Inc., a producer of poultry and meat-filled pie products and entrees, located in Burlington, Ontario, effective October 2, 2014.
The company`s licence was suspended because the operator failed to meet regulatory requirements outlined in its Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program. In addition, the operator failed to properly store products, in violation of the Meat Inspection Regulations.
There is no food recall associated with this licence suspension.
Canafric Inc. will not be permitted to resume operations until the necessary corrective measures have been implemented and the CFIA is fully confident in the company's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations.
