Note: CFIA Revokes Registration of Establishment 2563, Ichiboshi L. P. C. Ltd.

June 19, 2015, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the federal registration of Establishment 2563, Ichiboshi L. P. C. Ltd., in Caraquet, NB effective June 19, 2015.

The CFIA has determined that adequate controls for food safety are not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis, as required by the Fish Inspection Regulations. The company has failed to correct deficiencies previously identified through CFIA inspections.

There is no recall associated with this suspension at this time.

All products currently at this facility are under CFIA detention and control. In addition, the CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation to determine if products shipped from the facility pose potential risks to consumers. The CFIA will immediately alert the public if unsafe food could be in the marketplace.

Ichiboshi L. P. C. Ltd. will not be able to resume operations until it has fully implemented the necessary corrective actions and the CFIA is fully confident in the facility's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its web site.
