Note: CFIA advises Establishment 120, Ferme de gibier El Rancho ltée, of Non-Renewal of Operating Licence

June 9, 2015: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the registration of Establishment 120, Ferme de gibier El Rancho ltée, effective June 5, 2015. The establishment is a federally registered quail slaughterhouse in Saint-Édouard, Québec.

The registration was suspended because the operator was unable to develop and maintain a HACCP system as required by the Meat Inspection Regulations, with respect to suitable equipment sanitation, chilling, storage, training of personnel, record keeping, and general hygiene.

There is no recall associated with this suspension.

The company will not be able to resume operations until it has fully implemented the necessary corrective actions and the CFIA is fully confident in the company's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failure to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its web site.
