Effective September 16, 2014, the licence of Establishment 0772, Sung Fish Co. Ltd. was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

August 6, 2014: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the registration of Establishment 0772, Sung Fish Co. Ltd., in Vancouver, British Columbia, effective July 31, 2014.

The Agency has determined that adequate controls for food safety are not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis. The company has failed to implement an effective Quality Management Program Plan as required by the Fish Inspection Regulations. The company has also failed to fully correct deficiencies identified through CFIA inspections.

There is no food recall associated with this suspension.

Sung Fish Co. Ltd. will not be able to resume operations until they have fully implemented the necessary corrective measures and the CFIA is fully confident in the plant's capacity to effectively manage food safety risks.

Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its web site.
