Effective July 15, 2014, the registration of Bincho Processors Ltd. was reinstated and the company was allowed to resume operations under ongoing inspection by the CFIA.
April 30, 2014: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the registration of Bincho Processors Ltd. (#0929) effective April 30, 2014. The establishment is a federally registered fish processor in Richmond, BC.
There is no food recall associated with this suspension. The registration was suspended because the operator failed to implement the requirements of their Quality Management Plan (QMP) and the corrective actions needed to address a lack of control in monitoring, verification and record keeping.
The operator has failed to implement proper corrective actions to effectively resolve the issue. As a result of this registration suspension, the company will not be able to export product or conduct interprovincial trade until the registration is reinstated. The firm has been given 60 days to meet the standards for a federally registered fish processing plant. Failure to comply will result in loss of registration. Bincho Processors Ltd. (#0929) will not be able to resume operations under federal jurisdiction until the establishment has fully implemented the necessary corrective actions and the CFIA is confident that the QMP requirements have been met, and issues regarding monitoring, verification and record keeping have been addressed.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended or cancelled for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its web site.
