CFIA cancels the Safe Food for Canadians Licence of Bavarian Link Meat Products Ltd.
October 23, 2020, Ottawa
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has cancelled the Safe Food for Canadians licence # 7GDWWV47 of Bavarian Link Meat Products Ltd., located in North Bay, Ontario, effective October 22, 2020.
Prior to the cancellation, the licence of Bavarian Link Meat Products Ltd., was suspended on March 6, 2020 because of failure to implement effective corrective measures for non-compliances under Part 4 of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR). During a licence suspension, licence holders may not conduct any activity that is identified in their licence.
The licence was cancelled in accordance with subsection 39(a) of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), because of failure to comply with subsection 86(1) and section 88 of the SFCR which relate to the preparation and implementation of a preventative control plan.
There is no food recall associated with this cancellation.
Bavarian Link Meat Products Ltd., was notified on July 13, 2020 and September 18, 2020 of the grounds being considered for licence cancellation and provided an opportunity to be heard. After meeting with the licence holder regarding the cancellation, based on a review of the facts and submissions made, the Agency determined that the licence holder failed to comply with section subsection 86(1) and section 88 of the SFCR and cancelled their licence.
