September 30, 2014, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has not renewed the registration of Establishment 0196, Barry Group Inc., effective September 1, 2014. The establishment, located in Calvert, NL, is a federally registered fish processing facility.
The CFIA has determined that the company failed to correct deficiencies related to construction and equipment previously identified through CFIA inspections, which is in violation of the Fish Inspection Regulations.
Establishment 0196 will not be able to resume operations until it has fully implemented the necessary corrective actions.
The company has been informed of their right to file for an appeal of this decision through the CFIA's Complaints and Appeals Office.
Licences and registrations of federally registered establishments or companies can be suspended, cancelled or refused renewal for failing to comply with relevant CFIA Acts and Regulations. The CFIA publishes a list of suspensions and cancellations on its website.
