CFIA's evaluation priorities 2024 to 2029

The President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) approved the 2024 to 2029 evaluation plan on June 26, 2024. The evaluation planning process takes place annually and the selected evaluations are listed by reporting year. There are opportunities for adjustment during each planning cycle based on Agency risks and priorities, information needs of stakeholders, program evaluation readiness, and evaluation capacity.

2024 to 2025

  • Evaluation of the digitization of CFIA services
  • Evaluation of Canadian Food Safety Information Network (CFSIN)

2025 to 2026

  • Evaluation of the import programs (including pet trade as a case study)
  • Evaluation of potato wart

2026 to 2027

  • Horizontal evaluation of Indo Pacific – Market access (led by Global Affairs Canada)

2027 to 2028

  • Evaluation of the standardized inspection process
  • Evaluation of food fraud program

2028 to 2029

  • Evaluation of market access
  • Evaluation of Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine bank
