Isabelle Laberge
Chief Food Safety Officer
The Chief Food Safety Officer for Canada plays a key leadership and advisory role for managing food safety incidents and for the development of policies, regulations and programs aimed at preventing and responding to food safety risks.
Isabelle Laberge is the Senior Director of the Food Safety Division in the Policy and Programs Branch at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). With over 25 years of experience in food safety, Ms. Laberge has held various positions in CFIA, in Science, Operations, and Policy and Programs, including the position of Director of the Office of Food Safety and Recall.
Since coming to the CFIA, she has worked with government and industry stakeholders on many high profile issues affecting Canadians.
Ms. Laberge holds a BSc in Food Science from Laval University and an MSc in Food Science from the University of Guelph.
