We have improved our online tools and resources to serve you better. For questions on SFCR food licences or about My CFIA please visit the Toolkit for food businesses.

If you are still unable to find answers to your questions, please visit the My CFIA user guidance or call 1-800-442-2342.

For more information on regulatory requirements for food businesses, please consult the Food Safety for Industry and Food Label Requirements pages.

Ask the CFIA a question by filling out the form below.

The form below includes step-by-step prompts. In order to avoid the misdirection of your enquiry, it is important that you choose the appropriate options from the drop down menus in the form.

For instance, if you are a member of the food industry and you have a question related to food regulatory requirements, you must select the options "Industry/Business" in the "I am asking this question as a member of" field and "Food" in the "My question is about" field under Business sector.

To avoid delays in receiving a response, please be as detailed as possible with your enquiry, including when referencing CFIA documentation. Please avoid the use of acronyms.

Service expectation

The CFIA responds to all questions according to standard processing times. These times may vary depending on the type of enquiry and volume received.

A response can be expected within 2 to 3 business days for most enquiries. For more detailed enquiries that may, for example, require regulatory or policy interpretation, please allow for up to 20 business days for a response.
