Forward Regulatory Plan: 2021 to 2023
Amendments to the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations (miscellaneous amendment regulations) – Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations
Description of the objective
Administrative monetary penalties are one of several enforcement options for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to respond to non-compliance. The amendments to the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations would be updated to reflect changes being made to the Health of Animals Regulations and the Plant Protection Regulations to address issues raised by the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations (SJCSR). One proposed amendment is consequential to the Plant Protection Act amendments published on November 27, 2015. One proposed amendment is repealing an item under the Safe Food for Canadians Act.
