- Origin & Breeding: AC LR Russet Burbank is a clonal variant of Russet Burbank showing resistance to leafroll, discovered at the Agriculture and Agri Food Canada Research Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Botanical Features
- Plants: medium; spreading; stems weakly pigmented; straight single wings; nodes swollen, weakly pigmented.
- Leaves: olive green; semi-open. midribs lightly pigmented, highly pubescent; petioles not pigmented.
Terminal leaflets: narrowly ovate; acuminate tip; truncate and asymmetrical base; margins weakly wavy.
Primary leaflets: four pairs; large; narrowly ovate; acuminate tip; base truncate and asymmetrical. - Flowers: few; white corolla with prominent star; greenish yellow anthers; flower buds drop readily; peduncles not pigmented.
- Tubers: long; russetted brown skin; medium deep eyes, numerous, evenly distributed; eyebrows not prominent; white flesh.
- Sprouts: spherical; green; base weakly pubescent; apex closed, moderately pubescent.
Agricultural Features
Russet Burbank is a medium to high yielding variety with attractive appearance. Washes well at maturity. Long dormancy period, stores well. Requires a uniform moisture supply and long growing season to produce maximum quality tubers and to prevent knobbiness and second growth. To produce large tubers, plants must be spaced 30 to 45 cm apart. High total solids.
AC LR Russet Burbank expresses reduced potato leafroll virus and incidence of net necrosis.
- Utilization: excellent for baking and French frying, good for boiling.
- Chief Markets: fresh market, processing for French fries.
Reaction to Diseases
Highly resistant: leafroll, net necrosis, black leg.
Moderately resistant: common scab, fusarium dry rot (Fusarium oxysporum and F. sambucinum).
Susceptible: fusarium dry rot (F. coeruleum), late blight, verticillium wilt, seed-piece decay, PVX, PVY.
