Effective July 8, 2019, the CFIA cancels the Safe Food for Canadians Licence of La Stella Foods Manufacturing Ltd.
May 17, 2019, Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the Safe Food for Canadians licence of La Stella Foods Manufacturing Ltd., a food processing establishment located in Burnaby, British Columbia, effective May 3, 2019.
While the suspension is in effect, the licence holder may not conduct any activity for which licence #4HLB74V8 was issued.
There is no food recall associated with this suspension.
CFIA suspended the licence because the licence holder failed to comply with provisions related to sanitation and pest control under section 51 of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.
CFIA is committed to enforcing federal regulations and verifying that licence holders meet all food safety and other requirements. The suspension will remain in effect until CFIA determines that corrective actions were taken to address the non-compliance.
Safe Food for Canadians licences can be suspended:
- for failure to comply with the Safe Food for Canadians Act, the Food and Drugs Act and their related regulations
- for the default in payment of any fee related to the issuance of the licence
- if CFIA determines that there is a potential risk to the public.
