Examples of dairy products that have already been exported to Egypt (EG):

  • milk
  • cheese (cheddar and other cheddar types, specialty cheese)
  • butter and other fats and oils derived from milk

No information is known regarding ineligible products.

2. Pre-export approvals by the competent authority of the importing country

2.1 Country

Canada is authorized to export dairy products.

2.2 Establishments

No information is known regarding an approved establishment list.

The manufacturing of dairy products must be under the official oversight of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and be licensed under the Safe Food for Canadian Regulations (SFCR).

2.3 Products

No information is known regarding products registration.

2.4 Import permit

Import permit is required to export dairy products. The importer and exporter are responsible to make the necessary arrangements with the Egyptian authorities to obtain the import permit.

3. Product specifications

No information is known regarding product specifications. Microbiological requirements and maximum residue limits in Egypt may differ from those in Canada. Failure to comply with these standards could result in a shipment being rejected at the border control port.

4. Production controls and inspection requirements

The manufacturer must be aware of the standards and requirements of the importing country. An export control plan must (ECP) be in place to demonstrate that your products meet the requirements of the importing country.

Manufacturer's declaration

Note: Inspectors will verify that the Manufacturer's declaration is completed appropriately and reserve the right to request any other information that they think is necessary for the final certification of the product.

Certification requirements

The health certificate TS.EG contains animal health and public health requirements.

Animal health attestations

The animal health requirements on the health certificate TS.EG are met based on Canadian regulations. In Canada, foot and mouth disease, rinderpest, Rift Valley fever and la peste des petits ruminants are reportable disease under the Health of Animals Act.

Public health attestations

The public health requirements on the health certificate TS.EG are met based on Canadian regulations.

Dairy products manufactured in Canada and destined for the market of Egypt are also subject to pasteurization or any combination of control measures with equivalent level of performance, in accordance with the recommendations of World Organization for Animal Health and/or as indicated in the Codex Alimentarius Code of Hygienic Practice for Milk and Milk Products.

5. Labelling, packaging and marking requirements

The exporter and importer are responsible to label the product according to applicable Egyptian requirements, for example Halal and Arabic labelling.

6. Required documents

Canada does not have a negotiated certificate with Egypt. The certificate below is issued based on commercial risk. Requests for any additional statements must be confirmed by CFIA's Food Import and Export Division (FIED).

Certificate

Health certificate for the export of milk and milk products for human consumption from Canada to Egypt (TS.EG).

Note

  • This certificate is signed by the CFIA official veterinarian and official inspector
  • The heath certificate is written in 2 languages: English and French
    • The importer and exporter are responsible for providing the required halal certification for exported dairy
    • The CFIA is not involved in the halal certification
  • Export certificates cannot be issued for products that have left Canada
  • The exporter is responsible for providing, where applicable, the unique Advanced Cargo Information Declaration (ACIA) number that will be added to box 5 Importer of the export certificate issued by the CFIA. The certificate can be issued without the ACID number, however, the exporter must add it in the form of a sticker on the issued certificate. Any documentation accompanying the shipment should also contain this number. See NAFZA's question and answer section

7. Other information

Samples (personal or commercial) of dairy products may be subject to the same requirements as a regular shipment. It is strongly recommended that the exporter verify these requirements with their importer.

Exported dairy products transiting through a third country may require transit documentation. It is the responsibility of the exporter to ensure that the shipment will be accompanied by all the necessary certificates. Please work closely with your importer.

Depending on the type of dairy product being exported, a specific shelf life may be required.
