High specific gravity. For seed production, plants should be 15 to 20 cm apart and for processing, 30 to 40 cm apart. Reduced fertilization decreases the difficulty in top-killing.
NOTE: foliage is very sensitive to applications of the herbicide metribuzin (Lexone®, Sencor®) so this herbicide must be applied well before emergence.
- Utilization: excellent for boiling, baking, and French frying, unsuitable for chipping. Good potential for count carton trade and all season processing.
- Chief Market: fresh market, processing for fries.
Reaction to Diseases
Moderately resistant: early blight, fusarium dry rot (Fusarium coeruleum and Fusarium sambucinum), phoma rot, rhizoctonia.
Susceptible: common scab, late blight, leaf roll, verticillium wilt and PVY.
NOTE: shows poor symptoms expression of PVY. Rogue under cloudy conditions.
