- Origin & Breeding: bred by T. Richard Tarn from the cross (AC Chaleur x Agitato) made in 1984 at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Potato Research Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Botanical Features
- Plants: medium size, semi-erect; stems weakly pigmented at leaf axial; nodes swollen.
- Leaves: light green, semi-open; midribs and petioles not pigmented.
Terminal leaflets: medium ovate; tip acuminate; base cordate; weakly wavy margins.
Primary leaflets: large; narrowly ovate; tip acute; base cordate; weakly wavy margins. - Flowers: numerous, small white corolla with very prominent star; flower buds strongly pigmented.
- Tubers: round; smooth yellow skin; shallow eyes, evenly distributed; non prominent eyebrows; yellow flesh.
- Sprouts: ovoid; red-violet; base weakly pubescent, moderately pigmented; tip strongly pubescent, not pigmented, closed habit.
Agricultural Features
Medium to high yielding variety of attractive appearance. Plants are rather slow to emerge with uneven initial growth but they become rapidly vigorous and fill up uniformly the rows. Short dormancy period. Good storability. High specific gravity.
Rochdale Gold-Dorée is very sensitive to the herbicide metribuzin, even in pre-emergence. This product should not be used.
- Utilization: none to slight discolouration after cooking; good for boiling and baking.
- Chief Market: fresh market.
Reaction to Diseases
Highly resistant: PVY
Moderately susceptible: common scab.
Susceptible: early blight, late blight, fusarium dry rot, potato wart, golden nematode (Globodera rostochiensis race 1).
