Prevention is the most effective way for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to protect the plant resource base. However, if a pest is introduced and becomes established in Canada, the CFIA's goal is to reduce its impact.
We have developed factsheets to promote public awareness and encourage reporting of suspect sightings of species that have the potential to be invasive in Canada, some of which are regulated under the Plant Protection Act. For the full list of regulated pests, visit the Pests Regulated by Canada.
Regulated
Contact the CFIA if a pest is found in an area where it is currently not known to occur.
