Livestock traceability
Under the authority of the Health of Animals Act and regulations, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) administers a national livestock traceability program. Livestock traceability systems are essential, effective tools that can help mitigate the risks and impact during an emergency or disease outbreak, thereby limiting economic, environmental and social impacts of disease outbreaks, food safety issues and natural disasters.
