Primary control zone for multinucleate sphere unknown (MSX) (PCZ-02 – Montrose to Darnley Basin, PEI)

WHEREAS, on July 23, 2024, primary control zone 02 was declared by Jean-Guy Forgeron, the Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, under subsection 27(1) of the Health of Animals Act ^{Footnote 1} for Haplosporidium nelsoni; and whereas I am authorized under section 33 of the Act to exercise the power of the Minister under subsection 27(2) of the Act.

THEREFORE, under subsection 27(2) of the Act, in respect of that primary control zone, I hereby, by order, designate the animals and things listed in the Schedule attached as being capable of being infected or contaminated by Haplosporidium nelsoni.

WHEREAS on July 23, 2024, I, Jean-Guy Forgeron, Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, declared Primary Control Zone 02 in a Declaration Order, pursuant to subsection 27(1) of the Health of Animals Act^{Footnote 1} in respect of Haplosporidium nelsoni.

WHEREAS I am authorized to exercise the power of the Minister under section 27.3 of the Act to amend an order made under subsection 27(1) of the Act.

THEREFORE, by this order, I amend the Primary Control Zone described in the Schedule of the Declaration Order referred to above by replacing it with the Primary Control Zone described in the attached Schedule.

The following is the description of the area in and around Birds Island to Montrose, Prince Edward Island declared to be a primary control zone under this order:

Primary Control Zone 02 (PCZ-02)

• All waters within lines drawn at points 46.800315° north latitude, -64.036178° west longitude/46.804702° north latitude, -64.036086° west longitude near Kildare Point to a line drawn at points 46.589592° north latitude, -63.792629 west longitude/46.578379° north latitude, -63.832499° west longitude near Port Hill.

WHEREAS, on July 23, 2024, primary control zone 02 was declared by Jean-Guy Forgeron, the Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, under subsection 27(1) of the Health of Animals Act^{Footnote 1} for Haplosporidium nelsoni; and whereas I am authorized under section 33 of the Act to exercise the power of the Minister under subsection 27(2) of the Act.

THEREFORE, I hereby declare, pursuant to subsection 27(1) of the Health of Animals Act^{Footnote 1}, that the area described in the Schedule attached is a Primary Control Zone, effective the date below.
